August’s Loftus Ward PCSO Update
During July, Loftus Ward recorded 86 crime reports and 19 reports of anti‑social behaviour. Anti‑social behaviour incidents involved: In last month’s report I informed that a multi-agency partnership approach with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council Anti-Social Behaviour Officer was ongoing in relation to a particular area in Loftus. This is still taking place, and a full update will be given at a later date. Regular patrols are being carried out to gather intelligence and offer reassurance. Proactive Team have assisted in the area throughout the month and arrested 1 male for attempt robbery, possession of Class C and dangerous driving. Male was riding a suron bike and this was seized. Response arrested 1 male for racially aggravated Sec 5 Public Order, possession of offensive weapon and resist arrest. As we are now into the summer months and experiencing warmer weather, please remain mindful of home security. Ensure doors and windows are locked, including garages, sheds and outbuildings. Although crime of this nature is uncommon in the Loftus area, opportunistic offenders may take advantage of insecure properties. Please be aware within the Loftus area we have seen an increase of rogue traders going door to door and canvassing for work. They are taking cash in hand whilst not completing the work to a satisfactory standard, often promising to finish the work the following day and failing to return. Never make on the spot decisions or feel pressured by uninvited doorstep traders offering home or garden repairs. If you are suspicious of a cold caller, say no and close the door and report the incident immediately to 101. Legitimate workers will always provide proper paperwork and credentials, business addresses and contact details. You can request ‘No Cold Calling’ door stickers via Redcar and Cleveland Council or contact myself and I can deliver them.
